The latest comments from Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos are a clear indication that he has had enough with his time at Ibrox.

The hitman has been at the centre of attention for both the right and wrong reasons this season, his goals helping Steven Gerrard to a decent first season in charge but his disciplinary record leaving the club floundering in his absence.

Speaking to the Glasgow Evening Times, the Colombian admitted that he “dreams” of playing in a more challenging league, saying: “There is a lot of speculation about my possible departure, but there is nothing concrete yet. I know what there are many interested clubs asking and as soon as there is something official I will be announcing it.

“But I’m committed to Rangers just now. I’ve had a good season and many clubs are interested and hopefully everything will be done in the right way. I dream of playing in a much better, more competitive league. I look at the English Premier League and the Spanish League. The leagues in France and Italy are very big leagues too and very competitive.”

Morelos has been utterly brilliant for Rangers this season and, on the face of it, it would be a great shame to see him go. He has netted 29 goals in 47 appearances, which is an incredible return.

But his disciplinary record has been the one thing that has tarnished his reputation in Glasgow, with the 22-year-old receiving five red cards this term.

And in recent weeks, speculation has mounted that Marseille could be in for Morelos. In fact, representatives from the Ligue 1 club allegedly travelled to Ibrox to watch the forward in action in last weekend’s Old Firm Derby with Celtic.

While Morelos adds in his quotes with the Evening Times that he is grateful for everything he has been able to do this season, there is no doubt that a big part of him wants a new challenge.

That he wants to play in a more challenging league is all you need to know about what’s going on inside the Colombian’s head. He is obviously not settled, despite him banging in the goals, and there is something inside of him that’s saying he needs to leave.

Morelos did mention the French league as being “very competitive”, so it remains to be seen if the south of France is indeed where he will be playing his football next season.

From these latest comments, however, Morelos is clearly thinking of a move away from Glasgow.
