Alan Brazil has said he’s heard that Gareth Bale is sick of his situation at Real Madrid and that he wants to call a day on his football career, amid speculation that he could return to Tottenham.
However, former Tottenham star Mido has urged Bale to return to Spurs, where he would be “one of the best players in the Premier League”.
Talking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show (talkSPORT, Wednesday, 8.30am), the host made the big claim saying, “I’m told he [Bale] just wants to call it a day. He’s got enough money, he can just retire and play golf.”
Mido replied, “I hope it’s not true. He gave everything for Tottenham and everything for Real Madrid. And I think he deserves more respect.
“I would love to see him back at Tottenham. I remember his first day at the training ground, he arrived with his mum and dad. I believe if he goes back to Tottenham he will rediscover his desire and I think he’s someone that needs to be loved. Not for £100m, though, not for £80m.
“The news that’s coming out now is really bad and he deserves more respect.
“Go back to Tottenham. Take a wage cut. He needs to feel loved and people love him at Tottenham. If he goes back he will be one of the best players in the Premier League.”

We can’t see Bale calling a day on his career. He might be sick of things at Real Madrid but there are plenty of clubs who would take him in a heartbeat and he can afford to take a wage cut. Bale is only 29-years-old and has plenty of years left in the tank at the very highest level. Would Tottenham want him back? You’d have to think they’d jump at the chance to bring him back to north London where he could make a real impact in the new stadium. He deserves to finish his career on a high and where better than at the club where he made his name and his fortune? If he returned and helped Tottenham land the Premier League title it would be the absolute pinnacle of an incredible career.
