Michael Brown has heaped praise on Leander Dendoncker after the Belgium international broke the deadlock in the Wolves’s 1-0 win against Fulham on Saturday.

Wolves went onto to secure all three points, which keeps them in pole position to secure a 7th place finish, which could potentially secure Europa League qualification if Watford fail to beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live (16:31 pm) Brown was full of praise for Dendoncker’s opening goal: “It was a brilliantly worked goal, excellent play down the right between Doherty and Moutinho and then there he was arriving with that late run and volleys it into to the near post with a brilliant finish.”

Brown added: “He’s been looking to break forward in the game and has managed to get his reward by scoring the breakthrough that might be big for Wolves.”

OPINION

Michael Brown is right to praise the impact of Leander Dendoncker during the game against Fulham which Wolves won 1-0, as Wolves secured a potentially vital three points that moves them ever closer to a 7th place finish in their first year back in the Premier League. Dendoncker not only scored the all important breakthrough against Fulham, but he was also instrumental in helping to break up Fulham’s play in the midfield. The Belgian was also useful in possession helping to keep Wolves in control of possession and look to probe and create chances. As Brown highlighted Dendoncker was constantly looking to get forwards throughout the game making late runs into the box, as Wolves initially struggled to create against Fulham, with Diogo Jota guilty of missing from close range when it appeared easier to score. Wolves supporters will be hoping that Dendoncker can continue to perform at his recent level, with the midfielder being a key part of Wolves’ good performances in the second half of the season, after being left out of the side earlier in the season.
