OPINION
Southampton fell to a 3-0 defeat at West Ham on Saturday, in their penultimate game of the Premier League season, with the Saints defence enduring a very difficult afternoon. One player who struggled was Jack Stephens, with the centre-back at times struggling to deal with West Ham’s Marko Arnautovic, who registered two of the hosts three goals. Southampton supporters suggested that Stephens might not be good enough for Southampton following his display against West Ham, but that maybe a little harsh on the defender who has shown he can perform well in the Premier League on other occasions. Saturday’s game with West Ham was a disappointing one for all concerned with Southampton, and question marks will be asked about which players Ralph Hasenhüttl should be looking to move on if he is to improve his squad for next season. However, having secured their safety last week, this result is not the end of the world for the Saints, who can at least prepare for another season in the Premier League after managing to navigate their way through a difficult season at times for the club.

I feel sorry for Fraser Forster, came back affer being out for over a year. Has dealt with a few demons, probably wanted to show the world he could still perform, but had Jack Stephens in front of him so didn’t stand a chance ????? #Saintsfc
