Manchester City have held talks with Benfica over a move for promising teenager Joao Felix, according to The Sun.

The newspaper report in their live transfer blog on Friday [10:16am] that Manchester City chief executive Ferran Soriano has had a meeting with Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira and super-agent Jorge Mendes in London on Thursday, to discuss a potential deal for Felix.

It is believed that Benfica value the 19-year-old forward at £100million, and Felix is a target for Pep Guardiola, with Manchester City in discussions with Bayern Munich over the potential sale of Leroy Sane with the Premier League champions thought to wanting around £90million for the German winger.

OPINION

It will be interesting to see whether Manchester City are able to secure the signature of Felix this summer, with the 19-year-old emerging as one of the most promising young players in Europe at the moment due to his impressive form for Benfica. The 19-year-old is exactly the sort of player that Guardiola normally likes to build his sides round, with Felix having the ability to drive with the ball in the final third and commit defenders, freeing up space for other players in and around the opponents penalty area. Guardiola has a proven record for improving players with the potential that Felix is beginning to demonstrate, with the Spaniard improving the likes of Raheem Sterling and Sane during his time at the Etihad helping the pair become much more consistent. Sane’s potential move to Bayern Munich could prove to be a key factor in any deal for Felix, and the 19-year-old would be an ideal replacement were the Germany international to leave.
