Prominent Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur has claimed that Man United striker Romelu Lukaku could be out for the rest of the season after a scan on his hamstring.

Terreur stated that it’s not a “big issue” but that he’s “been struggling with the hamstring for a while. Last time it took him three weeks to recover”.

Man United play Huddersfield and Cardiff in the last two games of the season as they try to secure a top-four spot and Champions League football.

Terreur, the Premier League correspondent for Belgian outlet HLN, made the update on his personal Twitter page.

OPINION

If Romelu Lukaku is off in the summer then he might have played his last game for the club. The Daily Mail claim that he is considering his future at Old Trafford amid concerns over his role over the new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. His time at Man United has been a mixed bag and it’s fair to say that he hasn’t hit the heights that his transfer fee would have demanded. 42 goals in 96 games is not a bad record but 15 goals in 45 games this season has put question marks over his long-term future. We don’t think he’s the sort of player that United need going forward. The times are changing and the modern game demands a different sort of striker in elite teams like Man City and Liverpool. We think United would be better off cashing in on a player who has three years left on his contract and using the funds to rebuild. There will be plenty of world-class clubs after a striker like Lukaku.
