OPINION

It is sad to see Vincent Kompany depart. He has been unbelievable on and off the pitch for City but now is the right time to move on. The 33-year-old only featured 17 times in the Premier League last term and the player-manager role at Anderlecht is an ideal role for Kompany given his age. He is going out on a high having captained his side to an Fa Cup triumph and the win adds to the many unforgettable memories that he has created for the club. Kompany is a City legend and his presence will be missed both on and off the pitch – he is a role model professional. The veteran deserves all the praise that he gets and there is no doubt that he will go on to be a success in the management side of the game. His knowledge of the game is exceptional and every player wanting to be a success can look to Kompany for inspiration. Gallagher will not be the only City fan feeling emotional today.
