Tottenham fans might have forgotten what it is like to see a new signing holding up the shirt after a year and a half without a single incoming transfer deal – but surely that has to change this summer.

The Lilywhites have enjoyed a season of surprising European success, not to mention another top four finish in the Premier League, and they will be looking to make the necessary improvements to help them reach the next level, whatever that might be.

Of course, their lack of spending has not stopped there being plenty of speculation of who they are chasing and there is little doubt that behind the scenes Mauricio Pochettino’s transfer team have been sourcing potential recruits to make a move for if and when Daniel Levy green lights a deal.

It should come as no surprise that a number of names from last summer have resurfaced 12 months on, with the likes of Ryan Sessegnon and Jack Grealish still with Fulham and Aston Villa respectively.

However, in a five name transfer report from the Times, it is stated that Tottenham could return for the promising English talents as well as chasing Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Andre Gomes and Wilfried Zaha, but the most notable piece of information might be the asking price.

It is stated Tottenham could get Sessegnon for significantly less than the £50million fee demanded in 2018 and if that is the case then Daniel Levy is onto a masterstroke of a deal.

At 18-years-old you are still paying for one of the most exciting young talents the country has to offer but his hit and miss campaign in a faltering Fulham side seems to have taken the sheen off his value – the perfect situation for Levy and Spurs.

With Grealish also said to be likely to leave if Villa are not promoted in the play-off final – which could lead to another cut price deal – Levy could be vindicated at Tottenham for waiting a year.
