Leeds are in talks with League Two side Forest Green over a move for winger Reece Brown, according to Football Insider

This reportedly happened straight after the play-off disappointment at Elland Road.

The 23-year-old joined Forest Green from Birmingham on a free transfer in 2017 and he’s out of contract in the summer.

Leeds would only have to pay compensation for the attacker, who’s scored 11 goals and added 15 assists this season, but are keen to avoid a tribunal and have entered talks to see what will get the deal done.

Good move for Leeds?

On one level this could be seen as disappointing. Leeds were after Dan James in January and almost got him. He’s now on the radars of Premier League sides and it was thought that Leeds could only really continue a pursuit if they got promoted. It’s also been said that Leeds had two lists this summer and it would seem that Brown is on the “If we stay in the Championship” list. However, it’s possible to find great players in the lower leagues – Dele Alli came from the MK Dons – and Brown is a real talent by all accounts. He’s exactly the player Leeds want, young, pacey and capable of scoring and assisting, and we think this would be a really good deal.

Likely to happen?

He’s very likely to move because he’s out of contract in the summer and he would surely jump at the chance to play at Leeds under Marcelo Bielsa. Leeds have opened talks and are willing to do a deal with Forest Green and we think this adds up to a deal that’s very likely to get done.
