So, it’s the end of a season that promised so much and may still yet deliver the ultimate prize to patient Leeds fans.

Automatic promotion might not have been the aim at the start of the season, but it quickly became apparent that Marcelo Bielsa was capable of getting much more out of his squad of players than either Paul Heckingbottom or Thomas Christiansen.

Leeds topped the table for a while and have spent more time in the top two than they have outside it. But Sheffield United and Norwich finished the stronger and Leeds have to go via the lottery of the play-offs.

Today’s game was a brilliant chance to put the disappointment behind them and get a big win to put them in the best mindset possible ahead of the semi-finals.

Yeah, that didn’t exactly happen and fans were fuming at a number of performances from their players – with Stuart Dallas just about getting the most of the criticism ahead of Jack Harrison.

Ipswich, rock-bottom of the Championship and by far the worst team in the division, took the lead after some really poor defending from Leeds.

Leeds themselves created very little in the first-half but finally found a goal through Mateusz Klich just before half-time.

It got worse straight away in the second-half through as Ipswich scored almost straight away, with Dallas absent from his left-back position.

He went some way to making amends for a poor performance with an goal late on but that didn’t disguise his overall performance – and Leeds lost 3-2  at the death.

The result might matter little in the end but momentum is important for the play-offs and this wasn’t the game Leeds were looking for.

Here are the best reactions from Leeds fans to Dallas, with one fan saying he had better not start in the play-offs:
