OPINION
Why isn’t Jamie Shackleton playing more in the Leeds United first team? He has been terrific in the Under-23s this season and was once more on top of his game in the penalty shoot-out win against Birmingham at Elland Road on Monday afternoon. Shackleton has made 19 appearances in the Championship for Leeds this term but has only made three starts. It would be a risk to chuck him into the first team ahead of the play-offs. The big occasion could get to the youngster but with the way that some of the senior players have been performing lately, it might be a risk worth taking. It’s understandable to see so many Leeds fans drooling over Shackleton and demanding that he’s called up into Marcelo Bielsa’s starting line-up in the first team. Leeds fans love to see their club produce good young players and play for the club as often as possible. You can expect Shackleton to be on the bench against Derby in the play-off semi-finals, but don’t expect him to start, unfortunately.
