Leeds United star Pontus Jansson has admitted that ‘he will see what happens’ in the summer when he was asked about speculation surrounding his future at Elland Road.

According to Football Insider, the 28-year-old defender has had a falling out with manager Marcelo Bielsa and ex-Leeds striker Noel Whelan has also claimed that the Sweden international could move on in the summer transfer window for £10million.

Jansson is usually linked with clubs in each transfer window as well with him confirming to Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet last year that there were sides were eyeing him up.

Jansson has been asked about his future at Elland Road once again, and while he acknowledges that he still has another three years left on his contract, he admits that he does not know exactly what the summer might hold.

“We’ll see what happens,” he told Fotboll Skanalen. “I like it very well, it’s just that it was fun to play in the Premier League. So as we missed now, with the squad we have … I have three years left, it’s just stupid to talk about something else.”

OPINION

Jansson will leave a massive void in the Leeds defence if he was to move on in the summer. The Swedish centre-back made 41 appearances in all competitions for the Whites this term as they reached the play-off semi-finals as he played a key role in Marcelo Bielsa’s failed promotion push. Him and Liam Cooper have been terrific alongside each other and as them two are the only recognised centre-backs in the first team, it would create quite an issue for Bielsa if Jansson was to move on. Judging by the claim by Football Insider, it may seem as though Bielsa will try to get rid of Jansson in the summer anyway. The pair do not seem to be on the best terms with one another at the moment and Jansson’s actions in the 1-1 draw against Aston Villa at Elland Road this season suggest there may be truth to that claim.
