Aston Villa have been left “very impressed” with John Terry’s work alongside manager Dean Smith, according to talkSPORT host Paul Jacobs.

The former Chelsea man has been a key member of the Villans’ backroom staff this season, and Jacobs has suggested that the club are hugely satisfied with his work.

Speaking on talkSPORT (May 23rd, 3.20pm), he said: “I was told by somebody in the know at Aston Villa are very impressed by the work John Terry has done with Dean Smith.”

OPINION

Terry, to his credit, has been brilliant this season. Villa have endured a bit of an up and down campaign, but since they hit their stride and started marching on up the table, they have been imperious, and it feels as if Terry has played a key role in that. He is a very visible, vocal part of the set up at Villa Park, and you get the impression that he has thrown himself into his role at the club wholeheartedly. Evidently, he has an awful lot to learn, with this being his first job behind the scenes rather than on the pitch, but at the same time, he will bring a lot to the table that the likes of Smith cannot. Only he has played in Champions League finals, only he has played under managerial greats like Mourinho and Ancelotti. If Terry has absorbed even 10% of the lessons they have taught him, then he could have a very big future ahead of him in the dugout.
