Following Leeds United’s devastating play-off defeat last night, Izzy Brown’s loan spell with the club has ended.
Brown’s time at Elland Road has been hindered through injury. Two knee problems have overshadowed the Chelsea loanee’s season – Brown made just two appearances last term including his late cameo against Derby last night.
However, the Chelsea man has left Leeds with a compelling and heartfelt message.
After the defeat, Brown posted this message on Twitter.
“I don’t know what to say, words can’t describe how we feel right now.
“I just want to say thank you for the love and support this season, even though it didn’t end the way we all wanted it to.
“It’s been a pleasure to be able to play for this amazing club,” Brown added.
“I’m sorry that I haven’t played as much as I hoped this season, but that’s football. I’ve learnt so much this season & its been a pleasure to have been on this journey with the boys.
“Thank you to everyone at Leeds United, the players, the staff, the fans, you will always have a place in my heart & hopefully next season you will get back to where you belong.
“Thank you for sticking with me through difficult times, it’s really appreciated.”

OPINION
Izzy Brown has clearly taken a lot away from his time under Bielsa. It’s a real shame that his injury issues have prevented what could have been a fine season for the youngster. He was one of Huddersfield’s star players when they won promotion in 2017 and arrived at Elland Road with serious promise. At times this season, Brown could have taken Bielsa’s side to the next level. Brown will be available again next season and will interest many of the Championship’s sides but we very much doubt Leeds will look to bring him back after a diastrous season at Elland Road. The message might come as a surprise to many Leeds fans because of Brown’s lack of game-time but his experiences have clearly impacted him deeply. A real touch of class after what was a heartbreaking night.
