Chelsea defender Emerson is a target for Inter Milan and the Italian giants have met with the defender’s representatives, according to FcIN.

Inter manager, Luciano Spalletti, worked with Emerson whilst at Roma and is keen to link-up with his former player.

With Chelsea having their transfer ban upheld, Maurizio Sarri is keen not to lose his recruits. The Blues are only able to sign players under the age of 16.

The 24-year-old is the second choice left-back at the club behind Marcos Alonso and may feel as if his chances of regular football are higher with Inter.

Emerson has made 10 appearances for The Blues in the Premier League this season.

Good move for Chelsea?

Chelsea must ensure that they have enough squad depth to be competitive next season. The transfer ban makes matters much more complex and Emerson will be needed to provide sufficient defensive cover for the foreseeable future. If the Blues were able to sign players without the complications of transfer restrictions, Emerson may well have been able to depart this summer, however, that is not the case. Sarri needs as many bodies as possible.

Is it likely?

The fact that Inter Milan have met with Emerson’s representatives show that the Italian’s have aspirations of bringing the defender to the club. Chelsea are fully aware of the restrictions that they are under meaning that they will be keen to keep hold of all of their senior players. Emerson’s lack of game-time could result in the Italian wanting a move away from the club. Emerson has worked under Spalletti before and may feel as if he wants to reunite with his former boss.
