Image for Hay: Mujica not the person snapped with Leeds chief Orta

Rafa Mujica is not the person who has been spotted with Leeds United director of football Victor Orta at Elland Road, according to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay.

The reporter claimed via his personal Twitter account that the Barcelona B striker is not in the image that has sparked a lot of speculation by a number of Leeds fans on social media on Wednesday.

Spanish journalist Angel Garcia (via Marca) claimed earlier this month that Mujica would join the Whites once his contract at Barcelona expires this summer.

However Hay has emphatically ruled out him being with Orta this week by saying: “No, it’s not him.”

OPINION

It does look a bit like Mujica to be fair to the Leeds fans who thought it was the 20-year-old striker, but clearly they can trust Hay on this because he either knows who it is, or is just very eagle-eyed when it comes to young Spanish footballers. Leeds will more than likely be pressing on with their transfer business now that Marcelo Bielsa’s future at Elland Road has been cleared up, however the chances of Orta getting someone to jet in from Spain around 24 hours later would be mightily impressive. Mujica could be a decent prospect and Orta has shown a willingness to sign young players from across Europe to pad out the Leeds Under-23s squad. Kun Temenuzhkov was released by Barca before joining the Whites. Just because Mujica isn’t the person in this image, doesn’t mean he isn’t heading to Elland Road to become Orta’s latest young import from the continent.
