West Ham co-chairman David Gold has posted a good luck message to Andy Carroll and Adrian after it was confirmed that the two players will leave the London Stadium at the end of their contracts in June.

The Hammers announced via their official website on Wednesday that Carroll and Adrian would be joined by Samir Nasri and Toni Martinez in heading towards the exit this summer.

Gold has since taken to Twitter to send his best wishes to the pair, adding in some stats about them at the same time.

“I can confirm Andy Carroll and Adrian will leave the Club on the 30th June,” said Gold via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday.

“They have combined to provide 13 seasons of service, playing 292 first-team matches between them and providing some of the most memorable moments in recent Hammers history.

“Good luck Adrian and Andy.”

OPINION

West Ham have made the right decision to get rid of Carroll and Adrian. Neither player has played that much lately and Carroll is bound to earning a lot of money despite his frequent injury issues and poor form when he actually does play. It is a shame for him to be injured so much but the Hammers surely cannot afford to have someone around like him who is a financial liability. Adrian on the other hand has been a victim of Lukasz Fabianski’s stunning debut campaign at the London Stadium. The Spaniard is not a bad goalkeeper at all but he has dropped down the pecking order and it might be time to bring in a young, more up-and-coming shot-stopper to serve as a number two behind Fabianski. It was also the correct shout to see Nasri leave after an injury-hit spell at the London club and while Martinez is young and has some developing to do, he did not have an impressive season on loan at Lugo in Spain’s second-tier and releasing him is also a good decision.
