Everton youngster Nathan Broadhead has been included in Ryan Giggs’ 26-man Wales training camp that will travel to Portugal, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Broadhead was named the Everton Under 23’s player of the season last term and has now earned international recognition from his country.

The 21-year-old has represented Wales at Under 21, Under 19 and Under 17 level but he is yet to make his full first-team debut for Ryan Giggs’ men.

Giggs will name his squad who will play against Croatia and Hungary on May 29 and Broadhead has given himself an opportunity to receive his first senior call-up.

The midfielder, who can also play on the wing, played a crucial role in the Everton Under 23’s last term and helped the young Toffees achieve a domestic double.

OPINION

It’s refreshing to see young talented players like Broadhead given opportunities like this. It’s a fantastic opportunity for him to prove himself and show that he is capable of competing at such a high level at such a tender age.  The 21-year-old is clearly brimming with potential and given that he was named as the Everton Under 23’s player of the season, he could well be part of Marco Silva’s plans next season. Nathan Broadhead could even be named in the Wales senior squad before he has made his senior debut for the Everton first team – this would be a terrific achievement and would stand him in really good stead going into the new season. The Wales training camp will be a great experience for the youngster and the opportunity to play around a number of highly successful professionals will give him the belief that he can make the step-up.
