Everton have put a £7million price tag on winger Yannick Bolasie and Newcastle have started talks over a summer transfer, according to Goal

The Toffees paid £26 million for DR Congo international Bolaise who joined from Crystal Palace in 2016 and he is reportedly on £75k-a-week at Goodison.

The 29-year-old has failed to make an impression and has subsequently been loaned out on two occasions.

The winger spent the first-half of last season with Championship side Aston Villa and spent the second-half with Belgian giants Anderlecht.

Bolasie is interesting a host of Premier League clubs. Newcastle and Southampton are both keen on the DR Congo international.

Good move for Newcastle?

It simply has not worked out since Bolasie’s big money move in 2016. His displays for Crystal Palace were exceptional and it’s unfortunate that he has not been able to replicate his previous form. Allowing the winger to depart for £7million is the correct thing to do. Bolasie is, without doubt, a big earner and getting him off the wage bill would be a positive thing for Everton. The 29-year-old impressed in Belgian football last season but his time with the Toffees is well and truly up – the best thing for both parties would be a move away from Goodison Park.

Likely to happen?

Bolasie will want to find a club willing to give him regular game-time. Everton cannot offer him this and as a result, the best thing for both would be a move away from the club. The fact that Bolasie cost the Toffees  £26million in 2016 speaks volume about how good he can be. At £7million, he could turn out to be a bargain. Everton will want him off the wage bill and a deal is very likely to happen this summer – Mike Ashley could get himself a bargain. But is any player every likely to sign for Newcastle at the moment?
