Everton have the chance to sign Inter Milan’s Joao Mario for around £15 million, according to The Daily Mail.

Joao Mario has featured 20 times in Seria A this term and his Inter side currently sit third in the league.

With Andre Gomes’ loan ending with the club, Everton will need to bring in midfield recruits to bolster their options.

At around £15 million Joao Mario would be a solid addition. The asking price is more than reasonable for a player who has 43 Portugal caps to his name.

The 26-year-old spent half a season in the Premier League with West Ham in 2018 and showed glimpses of his quality.

There is a void to be filled in the Everton midfield – especially if Andre Gomes doesn’t make his loan move permanent. A player of Joao Mario’s quality and experience would fit the bill and solve the problem.

With consistent game-time under his belt, Joao Mario could turn out to be a bargain.

The fact that Inter forked out £36 million to secure his services from Sporting CP in 2016 speaks volume. He was a player that was set for big things but he hasn’t quite lived up to expectations yet.

The Toffees could be the club to really get the most out Joao Mario. At such a low asking price they would be silly not to capitalise and take the risk.

This is a low-risk move and would make sense.
