Everton have made an approach to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Thomas Meunier, according to Get French Football News, and he would make a great summer signing.

The Belgium international has played 21 times in Ligue 1 this term as PSG were crowned French champions but is now being linked with a move to Goodison Park.

Get French Football News claim that the Toffees have made a provisional contract offer to Thomas Meunier and he would be a terrific capture for Marco Silva.

The Everton boss currently has Seamus Coleman and Jonjoe Kenny as his two main right-back options and Meunier would add strong competition to the ranks.

Meunier brings a wealth of experience and quality –  he has been capped 36 times by Belgium and this is an indicator of how good he is.

With just one year left to run on his current deal with PSG, the French giants may be keen to cash in on the defender and Everton could land him at a cut-price.

With that in mind, he is well worth pursuing and Meunier could topple Seamus Coleman and claim the right-back spot – he has guaranteed quality that would benefit most Premier League sides.

Alongside being a solid right-back, the Belgian can also play right midfield. His versatility is yet another reason why the Toffees should bring him in.

This would be a sign of serious intent from Marco Silva and would significantly bolster his options.
