Inter Milan have offered Everton the chance to sign midfielder Joao Mario, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims that Mario, 26, is up for grabs for £15million in the summer transfer window and is also attracting interest from Porto and Monaco as Inter try to get rid of him.

The Mail adds that Everton could face an overhaul in the summer as more than 12 players face leaving Goodison Park in a potential exodus.

Good move for Everton?

Mario has been on the fringes of the Inter Milan squad this season by appearing just 22 times across all competitions and only starting 12 matches in Serie A.

Everton fans may remember the Portugal international from his spell at West Ham in the second-half of last season when he looked quite a decent player in his 13 Premier League appearances.

The central-midfielder would not be a terrible addition for £15million but there are better options out there that Marco Silva and Marcel Brands should be taking a look at.

Ideally, Andre Gomes should be the Toffees’ first port of call if they want to sign a midfielder on a permanent deal in the summer.

Likely to happen?

Should Everton really sign someone who is being offered to them? It does not sound like Mario has impressed at the San Siro and that could set off alarm bells for Silva and Brands.

Mario is also someone who was linked with the Blues last summer but nothing ever materialised.

There is certainly a chance that Mario could head to Goodison Park before next season starts but it remains to be seen whether the Toffees will take Inter Milan up on their offer.
