Tottenham fans should be jumping for joy after it was reported that Christian Eriksen might not be moving to Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

According to the Independent, Eriksen did feel as though he was going to head to the Bernabeu in the upcoming window as he enters the final year of his deal in North London.

However it is understood that Real Madrid now want to sign Paul Pogba from Manchester United as Zinedine Zidane’s return at the Bernabeu “swayed the ideas” in the Spanish capital.

Madrid have been long-linked with signing Eriksen and if there was going to be a summer that he moved there then it would surely be this one as his deal with Spurs expires at the end of next season.

Man United have also been interested in Eriksen with the Evening Standard reporting last month that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wanted to snap up his fellow Scandinavian.

However the Denmark international is surely going to snub the Red Devils now that Spurs are in the Champions League final, are guaranteed to play in the Champions League next season and Man United are not.

Nothing in set in stone about Eriksen’s future yet but this is a major boost for Spurs fans who are desperate to see the ex-Ajax playmaker stay put at sign a new deal in North London.

If Real Madrid have switched their attention away from the midfielder then what club could seriously lure him away from Tottenham?

Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Manchester City are the obvious ones but they have yet to have shown a major interest in the Dane, who has long been linked with Real Madrid and Man United.

No matter how Spurs fans look at this one, the chances of them keeping hold of Eriksen are increasing and Daniel Levy needs to strike now to get him tied down to a new deal.
