OPINION
Chelsea did things the hard way on Thursday night, beating Frankfurt on penalties at Stamford Bridge after a 1-1 draw, and fans were blown away by the skills of midfielder Jorginho.
He hasn’t always had the adoration of the supporters this season, with many criticising the player for not looking forward enough.
However, he was brilliant on Thursday night and there was one bit of skill in particular that had the Chelsea fans purring with delight.
He performed a beautiful drag-back, spinning 180 degrees as he did to start a Chelsea counter-attack that earned him the Skill of the Day from UEFA.
But it wasn’t just that. He showcased his entire skillset at Stamford Bridge, especially in the first-half, and showed why Sarri had splashed out over £50million on the Italian in the summer.
One fan called for him to be captain next season while another said it was time for fans to admit there were wrong about him.
Another supporter pointed out his little jump before cooly putting his spot-kick away in the shootout hailing the player’s “audacity”.
