Eagle-eared Leeds fans heard something very interesting during the Newcastle/Liverpool game on Saturday night.

Commentating on the game, Martin Tyler said that he had heard talk of Newcastle midfielder Mo Diame moving to Leeds in the summer.

Diame is a player who can play in the defensive midfield position and he has made over 100 appearances for Newcastle and won 35 caps for Senegal.

One Leeds fan posted a clip of Tyler’s comments during the game that ended 3-2 to Liverpool.

He said, “Diame, who is likely to leave Newcastle at the end of the season… Talk of him going to Leeds United.”

OPINION

Diame would be an interesting player at Leeds, but there is another midfielder who came on in the second-half that Leeds would love to see back at the club. James Milner started his career at Leeds before topping the pile with Liverpool and England. He’s out of contract in the summer and Leeds fans have been dreaming of a return if they can win promotion. That will have to be through the play-offs now with today’s game against Ipswich nothing more than a confirmatory for third place and a semi-final against either Bristol City, Derby or Middlesbrough. Leeds would probably prefer to avoid Middlesbrough but either way it’s not going to be easy. West Brom or Aston Villa will await in the final and either of those teams would make for a cracking play-off final.
