Many Aston Villa fans will shiver with fear as Simon Jordan now has doubts about whether they will beat Derby County at Wembley in the Championship play-off final.

The former Crystal Palace revealed he had been confident that it was Villa’s year when it comes to their hopes of getting promoted to the Premier League, but he just wasn’t so sure anymore.

“I do feel up until the point I saw Derby pull it out in the second-half against Leeds that this was Villa’s year, this was Villa’s year because of the momentum going in but I just think it has slightly changed now,” said Jordan on talkSPORT (17:50, Friday May 24th).

Jordan claimed that he thought momentum going into Monday’s game had now changed and he basically hinted that after their amazing comeback against Leeds, the Rams were the ones charging into the final.

While the former chairman’s opinion may not be one Villans fans appreciate, his remarks will no doubt cause to worry that perhaps Frank Lampard’s side will be victorious on Monday.

After all Jordan previously was so confident about the Villans’ chances and for him to lose confidence in anything is a pretty worrying thing as he is the type of person to stick by his guns.

Aston Villa may have beaten Derby twice during the regular season, comfortably beaten them as well, but that doesn’t matter when it comes to the play-off final.

It’s all about momentum going into the match and who is the best on the day.

In fact the Villans know this all too well as they lost to Fulham last season at Wembley who by all accounts only squeezed into the play-offs by picking up momentum right near the tail-end of the season.

While Dean Smith’s side have been on their own good run of form, it could be argued that they were lucky to get past West Bromwich Albion as they had to rely on penalties to overcome their local rivals.

So with that in mind, Jordan’s verdict surely has Villans fans sweating like never before over facing Derby.
