Leeds have ben hit with yet more bad news as Marcelo Bielsa confirmed that Kemar Roofe, Tyler Roberts and Adam Forshaw will all miss the second-leg of the play-off semi-final against Derby.

Forshaw was expected but the news about Roofe is a big blow after he scored the only goal of the game on Saturday.

Bielsa went on to confirm that Patrick Bamford would start the game at Elland Road on Wednesday, after returning from suspension.

Pontus Jansson is a doubt and will face a late fitness test but Tyler Roberts will miss out too.

Bielsa was talking in his pre-match press conference on Monday lunchtime (live in the official LUFC App, Monday, 12pm) and was quoted by Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay and BBC journalist Adam Pope.

OPINION

When will it end? Kemar Roofe finally looked like he was getting back to form, finishing a beautiful cross from Jack Harrison on Saturday after his return from injury. There was no clue before this that he’d picked up another knock and he’ll be a real miss, although his injury is not said to be serious. Patrick Bamford hasn’t looked as consistent but at least he’s back from suspension, otherwise, with Tyler Roberts out as well, Leeds wouldn’t have had a recognised first-team striker to play. This could open things up for Ryan Edmondson on the bench but all the onus will be on Bamford to fire Leeds into the final. The extra worry now is whether these players will be back in time for the play-off final. Leeds have had to put up with so many injuries this season it’s almost like their updates have been scripted by their opponents. Leeds fans won’t know whether to laugh or cry at this latest update.
