David Prutton has predicted Aston Villa to defeat Norwich City 2-1 when the Championship pair clash on Sunday.

The Sky Sports pundit shared that while he was unsure how many changes Dean Smith would make to his usual first-team line-up with the play-offs looming, he had a feeling the Villans would sneak a win against Norwich.

Prutton then shared that due to him thinking the Villans would be victorious on Sunday, he was backing Sheffield United to potentially seize their opportunity to steal the Championship title from Norwich’s clutches.

“I fancy Sheffield United to turn up at Stoke and nick all three points, and Norwich have a difficult trip to Aston Villa,” wrote Prutton in his predictions for Sky Sports.

“You don’t know how many changes Dean Smith will make in that one with the play-offs coming up, but I have a feeling they could sneak the win and give the Blades the opportunity to claim the title.”

OPINION

Villa fans are likely not too fussed about beating Norwich on Sunday as their place in the play-offs is already secure, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Sheffield United supporters love Prutton’s prediction more. It would be a big twist in the tale if the Blades snatch the title from Norwich’s hands on Sunday as for a while now, it has looked like the Canaries’ name was written on the trophy. In fact a few weeks ago, Chris Wilder’s side were looking more likely to finish third rather than be a title contender. However the Championship’s wild nature, does see surprises happen all the time. Just look at the Villans. A few weeks ago the Villans were drastically of the play-off places and all hope seemed to be lost. However Smith then guided his side to impressive result after impressive result, and you’d back the Villans to have a real chance of winning the play-offs as a result.
