Leeds have decided to sell 23-year-old right-back Lewie Coyle, despite a successful loan spell at Fleetwood, according to Football Insider.

The report claims that Marcelo Bielsa has given the greenlight for the player to exit, with his contract set to expire in 2020.

Coyle has been at Fleetwood since 2017 and won the Player of the Year award in the 17/18 season. It is claimed that Fleetwood will likely be interested in a permanent deal for him.

OPINION

Leeds need to move players on to bring new faces in this summer and if Coyle doesn’t have a future at Leeds then it’s right that they sell him – it’s the the last window they’ll be able to get a decent fee for him with his contract up next summer. Many fans wanted Coyle back in January, with Leeds suffering an injury crisis in his position. However, the fact he wasn’t recalled then showed that he’s not in Bielsa’s plans and is way down the pecking order for next season. It’s a shame for the player who came up through the youth ranks at Leeds before making 23 appearances for the club, but he seems to have found his level for now and if the price is right we can see him signing for Fleetwood permanently. He made 41 appearances in League One and helped Joey Barton’s side to a top-half finish.
