Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has handed manager Marcelo Bielsa a £5million budget to spend on loan deals this summer with temporary arrivals the main priority at Elland Road, according to Football Insider.

The reputable football news outlet claim that the Whites’ Italian owner cannot fund hefty transfer deals in the off season and that they will instead look at capitalising on the loan market.

It is stated that Radrizzani will allow significant spending on loan fees and wages to bring in quality talents, with the seven figure fee of £5million the amount Bielsa has to work with.

Opinion

Leeds have not particularly enjoyed what the loan market has had to offer in recent years, with the likes of Izzy Brown and Lewis Baker failing to make their mark this season while Pierre-Michel Lasogga was a flop the campaign before. If the Whites are to rely on temporary deals then director of football Victor Orta and Marcelo Bielsa best come up with some better options, otherwise next season will end in disappointment once again. With the contacts that the manager has, you would think he could get on the phone to someone like Mauricio Pochettino or Pep Guardiola – both disciples of the Argentine’s coaching methods – and get a top flight prospect to help bolster the squad. Jack Harrison was impressive in spells and maybe another deal could be done for him, especially now he is accustomed to Bielsa’s ways. Still, there is a lot more that Leeds need than the Manchester City winger and the loan market could limit them in terms of their recruitment.
