OPINION
Former Leeds owner Massino Cellino has won promotion to Serie A with Brescia, the club he bought after leaving Elland Road in 2017 – and Leeds fans have reacted on Twitter.
It’s been a dramatic turnaround in Italy, even more so than the one Andrea Radrizzani and Marcelo Bielsa have overseen at Elland Road.
Brescia finished 16th in Serie B last season, just four points above the drop zone. This season they’re going to end up as champions after a 1-0 win against Ascoli last night, barring an unlikely turnaround of goal difference.
Leeds have done a similar job this season. They finished 13th in the Championship and could still win promotion to the Premier League through the play-offs after missing out on a top-two spot.
Cellino had a turbulent time of it at Leeds and his tenure got off to a terrible start after the failed the Football League owners test, only for that decision to be overturned on appeal. He then went through seven managers in his time at Elland Road.

Why couldn't he get Leeds promoted to the top league

Even Cellino is waving as he passes us by

Good for him. He was certainly trigger-happy when it came to firing managers, but he deserves huge credit. Kept the club afloat and left it in a much healthier state than he found it. Hope Brescia stay up next year.
