Stan Collymore hinted that Dean Smith might utilise Aston Villa attacker Albert Adomah against Derby County but that would surely be a blunder.

The pundit claimed the 6ft tall Villan (Source: Transfermarkt) could possibly play as he stated in his column for The People (Sunday May 26th, page 53) that Villa needed to ensure they supplied enough chances to Jonathan Kodjia or Adomah depending on who plays.

However surely Adomah has no chance in playing in the Villans biggest game of the year on Monday?

This is for several reasons.

Firstly the 31-year-old winger’s general form in his 2018/19 campaign has been nothing short of woeful.

Adomah has struggled to impress as he has only scored four goals and registered three assists in 41 outings, and he has only been involved in 8% of the Villans’ league goals (Source: Transfermarkt) this season.

When you compare his stats this season to his 2017/18 campaign, where he scored 15 while assisting seven, it shows how his standards have dropped.

If that wasn’t enough, his play-off display against West Brom show he is not the right person to call upon against the Rams.

The 31-year-old was so bad in the first-leg of the semi-final against the Baggies that many Villans fans were tearing him apart on Twitter, and his display in the second-leg is memorable for all the wrong reasons.

Adomah missed spectacularly during the penalty shoot-out against the Baggies and it showed he couldn’t handle such a high-pressure situation, so why should Monday be any different?

With all this considered surely Collymore shouldn’t have wasted his time mentioning Adomah  as it’s hard to envision Smith making a mistake by calling upon him.
