Leeds wonderkid Jack Clarke has responded to Gary Lineker’s tweet about Messi’s incredible goal for Barcelona in the Champions League clash with Liverpool on Wednesday night.

Messi’s 600th goal for Barcelona heaped more misery on Liverpool, as they ended up on the wrong side of a 3-0 hammering.

But Messi’s free-kick was sublime, 30-yards out and like a rocket past Alisson in the Liverpool goal.

Lineker said, “For those who haven’t seen it, here is Messi’s sensational freekick and goal number 600 for Barcelona.”

Clarke agreed with Lineker saying “Just silly” with two emojis with stars for eyes.

OPINION

It was an incredible goal which shows why Messi is classed the best player in the world. The ball never reached the level of the crossbar, yet swerved around the wall and hit the top corner. Gary Lineker is a huge fan of Messi but he’s also given props to Clarke before after watching him at Leeds. In a tweet from January Lineker said, “Not the first Clarke to strut his stuff at Elland Road, but Jack Clarke looks a player. Another talented young English footballer born in 2000.” Clarke will be hoping that Lineker posts one of his wonder goals in the future, and possibly with Leeds in the Premier League if his side can navigate the play-offs successfully. It looks like they’ll have to beat Derby over two legs and then either West Brom or Aston Villa in the final at Wembley to go up. Meanwhile, Liverpool have it all to do after failing to score and letting in three goals. If any team can do it, it’s Jurgen Klopp’s but keeping Messi out again will be a big ask.
