OPINION

Aston Villa want to sign promising young striker Martell Taylor-Crossdale from Chelsea, according to Football Insider

The outlet claims that they’re looking back to the Premier League giants after a successful loan move for Tammy Abraham this season.

The 19-year-old is out of contract in the summer and the report claims that Villa are looking for a permanent deal.

Chelsea are getting a reputation for having a wealth of young talented players and nowhere for them to go. Much has been made of Callum Hudson-Odoi this season and the fact he got a start for England before he did in the Premier League for Chelsea.

Taylor-Crossdale has been on fire for the Chelsea youth sides, scoring 35 in 52 games for the Under-18s and seven in 29 for the Under-23s.

He’s a current England Under-20 international and there are high hopes that he’ll be able to step up and do the same at a higher level.

Southampton are also reportedly interested in a move for the youngster who won the Premier League Under-18 Golden Boot in the 15/16 season.

The Mail previously reported that Chelsea felt the youngster has what it takes to play at Premier League level, but it looks like that might not be at Stamford Bridge.

Taylor-Crossdale could be a brilliant prospect for Aston Villa and if they land him as a free agent, with the compensation fee likely to be minimal, he could be prove to be just as valuable as Abraham has in the future.
