COMMENTARY
With the Championship season coming to an end and the play-offs just around the corner, Aston Villa fans would have been hoping to see a confident, composed and clinical performance from their side against the best side in the division. Unfortunately for the Villa faithful, it was the Canaries who showed those qualities, with their players struggling to make the desired impact. Usually a fan favourite, it was Alan Hutton who bore the brunt of the supporters’ rage on Twitter, with his defensive ability and desire seriously questioned in the build up to Norwich’s opener by those watching on. A man of his experience should not be caught ball watching like he did and maybe it points to players not quite being fully focused on the game at hand. It is somewhat understandable considering Villa have already secured their place in the play-offs but you need momentum going into the crunch semi finals and this sort of performance was a long way off what was expected from someone who has been a stalwart for the Villans for so long.
This is Futbol has gathered a selection of the supporters’ fuming tweets:

Christ, I thought we’d seen the last of liability Hutton. He is (can’t come quick enough) departure doesn’t make me feel sentimental. #avfc

Well having Hutton in the team is like being a man down. And also Lansbury in midfield, well we are in for a thrashing.
