After the Premier League season came to an end, Tottenham  have quickly switched their focus to the Champions League final after finishing fourth.

It will be history for Tottenham on Saturday, as they compete in the club’s first ever Champions League final where they will meet the daunting task of the rampant Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp’s men missed out on the Premier League title after only losing one game and will be more determined to earn European success after missing out against Real Madrid in the previous year.

It will not be an easy task for Mauricio Pochettino, but BBC pundit Stephen Warnock has highlighted where he believes Spurs can hurt Liverpool in Madrid.

Writing in his BBC Sport column, Warnock said “The way for Spurs to hamper Robertson and Alexander-Arnold and hurt Liverpool is to leave fast players up the pitch high and wide, like Son Heung-min or Lucas Moura.

“That means if the Reds’ full-backs do push on, it is more of a gamble because they know it is left to their centre-backs, Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip, to deal with them.”

Warnock is advocating a very dangerous game for Tottenham who could be dismantled easily if they continuously play with that style of letting Liverpool’s full-backs have possession.

Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold were the top two assist making defenders in the Premier League this season with a combined total of 23. To say it could hamper Liverpool is very controversial as that it what has brought on their success this season.

Tottenham need to be wary of both wings constantly and not leave themselves too open. The counter-attack will definitely be one of their biggest strengths on Saturday but they can not rely on Liverpool mistakes to win the game.
