Chris Sutton has praised Lucas Moura after the Tottenham forward scored a hat-trick to help Spurs beat Ajax 3-2 in the Champions League semi-final.

The Brazilian’s first two goals came in the space of a crazy 204 seconds in Amsterdam and it put Spurs on the front foot in their chase for a first Champions League final in their history.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live’s coverage of the game, Sutton said: “Miracles do happen! Brilliant feet from Lucas Moura, hammers the ball in the back of the net and Ajax are panicking!”

OPINION

Moura had a great impact on the Tottenham side after they endured a painful first half against Ajax. Going into half-time two goals down on the night and three down on aggregate, Spurs fans were fearing the worst. This changed when Moura scored his first after a great counter attack and his pace and trickery led to another just three minutes later. It was a great effort from Spurs on a night where they made it two miraculous comebacks in two nights for Premier League clubs. Between Moura and Heung Min Son, Spurs troubled the youthful Ajax side all night with their pace on the counter attack and Mauricio Pochettino’s men will be delighted that Lucas Moura’s hat-trick sent them to Madrid to meet fellow Premier League side Liverpool in the final. Before the game there was a lot of pressure on the shoulders of Lucas who had to fill the gap left by Harry Kane and his brilliant effort led to his side’s first ever Champions League final.
