After a disappointing end to the season for Tottenham, they move their attention on to the Champions League final on Saturday where they will meet Liverpool.

It will be a moment of history for Spurs as Mauricio Pochettino has delivered a first ever Champions League final for his club and pundits have started to pour in with their predictions for the clash in Madrid.

One of the most controversial predictions was that one of Graeme Souness who even went as to say that Tottenham didn’t deserve to be in the final as they have been lucky when speaking to balls.ie.

Souness said: “Spurs shouldn’t be there. But they’ve somehow got themselves there and I think they’re fortunate to be there.”

This couldn’t be further from the truth with Pochettino’s men coming through adversity many times in one of the toughest routes to the final.

Spurs are fully deserved of their spot in the final with many defining moments throughout their European campaign highlighting that fact. After three games in the group stage they looked destined to be in the Europa League but wins against PSV Eindhoven and Inter Milan was followed by an impressive point away at Barcelona which saw them qualify second.

To better this they then dismantled the then table topping Borussia Dortmund, who were in fine form, and went on to somehow beat Manchester City in the quarter finals.

That was at a time where the eventual Premier League champions were tipped to complete a never done before quadruple.

A comeback in the second leg of the semi-final after being two goals down against Ajax was the stuff of legend and Souness needs to think again before suggesting it was luck with Spurs ready to offer Liverpool a huge challenge in a bid to make history.

If Tottenham go into the game with the same spirit that has got them this far then they could make the former Liverpool man regret his comments quite easily.
