Celtic are interested in Bournemouth striker Lys Mousset, according to the Daily Mail

The former France Under 21 international is now a target for the Hoops with the club believing that he is valued at around £10 million.

Celtic, however, are not keen on breaking their transfer record and would be willing to offer a player plus cash deal as an alternative.

The club forked out around a club-record £9million fee for Odsonne Edouard last summer.

Good move for Celtic?

Mousset only scored once in 24 Premier League appearances last term. With that being said, playing that many games must mean that boss Eddie Howe rates the 23-year-old. The Frenchman is a strong, athletic player and would be a very good signing for the Bhoys. Mousset has the potential to make a big impact in Scotland with his calibre and experience. The striker has given Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson solid competition this season and Bournemouth are in a position where they don’t really need to sell. But, given he has failed to find any goalscoring form, they may be open to cashing in on the 23-year-old. £10 million is slightly overpriced and if Celtic can land the player for around £7 million, it would be a better deal.

Likely to happen?

Celtic are not willing to pay £10million which Bournemouth believe he is valued at. However, it is still early days in terms of transfer activity and the player may want a break before discussing his future in any way. Bournemouth may be keen to sell and if they are able to make a profit on the near £6million they paid for him, they may sell for less than £10 million. Celtic are in need of more firepower and this would be a good addition. He’s only under contract until 2020 and Bournemouth will need to cash in this summer.
