Celtic have offered a deal to former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, according to Gianluca di Marzio.

The Sky Sports Italy journalist claimed via his personal website that Mourinho is considering an approach from the Hoops, who sealed their eighth Scottish Premiership title in a row on Saturday with a 3-0 win at Aberdeen.

However it is understood that Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes is trying to get the Portuguese manager a shot at being the next Paris Saint-Germain boss.

Di Marzio adds though that Thomas Tuchel may remain in charge of PSG and close off that avenue for Mourinho.

OPINION

Wow. Celtic fans would never have dreamed of being able to hire Mourinho as their next manager, but it does seem as though the Champions League-winning manager will at least consider a change of pace by taking charge at Parkhead in the summer. Mourinho did not do a great job in his most recent job at Man United, but just look at what the Portuguese boss accomplished at Porto, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Inter Milan. He is without doubt one of the best in the world and Celtic will surely be able to attract better quality players and go further in Europe with him at the helm. Di Marzio is one of the most reliable journalists in European football so there is a good chance that Peter Lawwell has made the move for Mourinho. However the chances of him accepting the offer have to be remote. He is after all someone who has won two Champions League titles.
