Celtic-mad Stoke winger James McClean has taken a swipe at a Rangers fan on Twitter.

The Bhoys sealed their eighth Scottish Premiership title in a row on Saturday with a 3-0 win against Aberdeen and the two Old Firm rivals will meet at Ibrox next week, when the Gers could welcome Neil Lennon’s men with a guard of honour.

McClean has taken to his personal Twitter account on Monday to hit out at a Rangers fan, telling him how he must watch Celtic winning everything ever year while his club has failed to lift any major silverware in years.

“It must suck to be you, you support Rangers which mean you have to watch Celtic lift the title every year,” said the Ireland international. “Second, whether you like it or not you have to pay to come watch me play most weeks. Have a nice day.”

The Rangers fan has since deleted his Twitter account.

OPINION

You cannot blame McClean for supporting Celtic and showing that on Twitter, but it looks a bit immature of him to be speaking out like this on social media when he should really show a bit of professionalism. However the Ireland winger has received some horrible abuse during his career and sometimes you cannot blame him for giving some back. McClean has looked as though he’s been angling for a move to Celtic throughout his entire career. During his time at West Brom, even though he was playing terribly, he was very vocal about his support for the Hoops and said that he wanted to join them. However he is now stuck at a mid-table Championship club in Stoke and West Brom have improved, if anything, since getting rid of him. He’s been fairly average at Stoke for most of this season with just a few good displays to boast about.
