Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you will be fully aware that Celtic are on course for a historic treble treble.

The Bhoys come up against Hearts for the chance to make it nine domestic trophies in a row this afternoon, and it cannot be understated just how much of an achievement that is.

You can argue that without Rangers, the competition has not been anywhere near as fierce as it otherwise might have been, but the simple fact of the matter is that to go on such a ridiculous winning streak takes a superhuman amount of will to win.

Nowhere is that better recognised than at Parkhead, and there should be serious kudos given to the board to keep on pushing their recruitment drive as far as they have when they could quite easily have rested on their laurels.

It would appear, judging by early reports, that the Bhoys are keen to keep that run going as well.

According to the print edition of De Telegraaf, as cited by Goal and Voetbalzone, AZ Alkmaar midfielder Adam Maher has made it clear to the Dutch club that he wishes to leave this summer, and the Hoops are credited as being one of a number of clubs interested in his signature.

The 25-year-old playmaker has quoted the reputation in the Netherlands and, as reported by the Daily Record, has been dubbed “the best in the Eredivisie” by former Bhoys star Pierre van Hooijdonk.

If Celtic were to pull through and snap him up, there would be one ace surely purring more than most.

Callum McGregor has enjoyed a stellar season up in Glasgow, and while he himself currently occupies that advanced midfield role, imagine the damage he could do with a player of Maher’s quality alongside him.

Tom Rogic, the other obvious contender for that spot, has gone off the boil somewhat this season, and if the Hoops can snap up wantaway ace Maher, they could be bring the kind of pedigree into the side that could see them turn a treble into a quadruple.
