Kris Boyd has heaped praised on Rangers midfielder Steven Davis, suggesting that he is one of the best players he has ever played with.
The Northern Irishman is in his second spell at Ibrox after rejoining the club in January, and former teammate Boyd has been quick to point out just how good he is.
Writing for the Scottish Sun, he said: “Davo is one of the best players I’ve ever played with. The wee man was just class during my first spell at the club.
“He’s a great boy, too, but as a player he was unbelievable at times under Walter Smith.
“Thankfully, Davo has managed to get a run of games under his belt and show everyone he’s still a top-class midfielder.”
OPINION
Davis is an old hand now, but he still has more than enough quality to be a massive influence for this Rangers side. The Northern Irishman has the ability to dominate a midfield with his vision and range of passing, and now that Steven Gerrard has begun to give him a decent run in an area that suits him, he is repaying that faith. The fact that he has been rewarded with a new one year deal should be a strong indicator of just how important he can be for this team, and if he can push on and keep fit, he could make a real difference for the Gers next year. Gerrard knows more than most about what it takes to run a game from the middle of the park, and if he has put his faith in Davis then that should be as promising a sign as any. It won’t happen overnight, but there’s no reason why Davis can’t become as big an influence as he was at Ibrox the first time around.
