Rangers have confirmed that defender Myles Beerman is set to exit Ibrox in the summer.

Beerman, 20, has been on loan at Maltese sides Birkirkara and Gzira United this season, but it seems as though the six-times Malta international has not done enough to prove he has a long-term future at Rangers.

The Gers announced via their official website on Friday that the full-back, who has made eight senior appearances for the Light Blues, will be released by the club.

OPINION

It is no surprise to see Beerman leave Rangers. He only earned those eight first team appearances for the Gers in the 2016/17 season due to a major defensive crisis that plagued Pedro Caixinha’s start to life at Ibrox. The Malta international did not do too bad in those appearances to be fair to him as he started six Scottish Premiership matches, although most fans will just remember that the shocker that he and his team-mates had in the 5-1 defeat to bitter rivals Celtic at Ibrox. Since them senior appearances he had had loan spells at Queen of the South, Birkirkara and Gzira and none of them have exactly been productive for him. He struggled to play for Birkirkara in Malta’s top-flight and if you cannot prove yourself there, there’s little chance of even coming a Scottish League Two player. It is a shame to see Beerman’s Rangers career go down the drain like this, but that is football and hopefully he can bounce back by finding a new club soon.
