With the Premier League over for another season, everyone involved at Tottenham can look forward to Saturday’s Champions League final.

It will be a moment of history for Spurs, who will entertain fellow Premier League side Liverpool, in the clubs first ever Champions League final appearance.

Ahead of the game, Spurs legend Darren Anderton had revealed how he believes it would be a big mistake to get rid of Fernando Llorente in the summer with the Spaniard being the perfect fit for Mauricio Pochettino – but his views couldn’t be further from the truth.

Anderton said to SportingBet: “He is the perfect player for what Tottenham needs in his position and it would be disappointing if he wasn’t Tottenham’s second choice striker next season.”

“Whoever comes in needs to know that they will be behind Harry Kane in the pecking order, which is difficult to find.”

Llorente has failed to make a huge impact at the club during his stay, having only scored once in his 20 Premier League appearances and the time has come for him to be replaced by a young forward, who is willing to learn off Harry Kane and who can offer pace off the bench throughout the season.

The World Cup winner currently earns £75k per-week at Tottenham (Source: Spotrac) and does not justify this sort of money with his performances at the club as Spurs slumped to a fourth placed finish in the Premier League after injury saw Harry Kane ruled out.

At 34-years-old, the Spaniard Llorente has averaged a goal every 683 minutes and is only current worthwhile use is offering great experience to those around him.

That is as good as it gets for the striker and with Anderton’s claims that he is the perfect player after enduring such a poor season in front of goal, the pundit couldn’t be further from the truth.
