Serie A side AC Milan are preparing to make a move for Tottenham forward Fernando Llorente this summer, according to a report from the Football Insider.

The reliable outlet report that AC Milan are one of a number of European clubs considering making a move for Llorente, whose deal at Tottenham is worth £75,000-a-week [Spotrac.com], during the summer transfer window, after it is believed he was told that he was going to be allowed to leave the club on a free transfer.

It is believed that the likes of Milan, Valencia, Roma and Marseille are all interested in signing the 34-year-old striker this summer, after the Spaniard’s impressive displays in Tottenham’s run to the Champions League final this season, with the forward scoring against both Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City in the knockout rounds this term.

Llorente has been a valuable option for Mauricio Pochettino to call upon throughout the season when the likes of Harry Kane have missed matches through injury. The 34-year-old has played a massive part in helping Tottenham advance to the Champions League final in Madrid, scoring key goals against Borussia Dortmund in the last 16 as well as netting in the thrilling quarter-final second leg against Manchester City. The striker was also influential in helping Pochettino’s side produce a thrilling comeback in the semi-final second leg in Ajax, with the Spaniard’s presence causing problems for the Dutch club’s defence and allowing Lucas Moura the space to score some crucial goals. However, Pochettino has limited the striker in terms of starts even when Kane has been out injured, electing to start Son Heung-Min and Lucas ahead of him up front at times. That suggests that the 34-year-old might be better off moving to another club this summer to get more regular starts as he looks to finish his career with more success elsewhere.
