Many Rangers fans couldn’t heap any more praise on defender Nikola Katic if they tried on Saturday as they seemed to be very impressed by his first-display against Hearts. While Jermain Defoe and Ryan Jack likely will grab the headlines at half-time for putting their side 2-0 up, Gers supporters seemed to be eager to talk about Katic instead. One fan dubbed the 22-year-old centre-back unplayable in the air, while a couple of supporters seemed amazed by how easy he was dealing with the threat of Uche Ikpeazu. It’s fair to say Katic did do well in the first-45 minutes, even if some Rangers fans went a little overboard with their praise, and you hope he will be able to build on his display in the second-half. It seems Gers fans were particularly happy to be in awe of Katic due to how often Steven Gerrard has overlooked him this season. Several times this season the Rangers boss has preferred to play Joe Worrall ahead of Katic and given that the defender on loan from Nottingham Forest has been error-prone more often than not, it has always been a decision that has left most scratching their heads.
