Wolves are set to confirm a club-record £30million deal for striker Raul Jimenez in the summer, according to the Guardian.

The report claims that Wolves have agreed the deal with Benfica for the 27-year-old frontman, who has impressed so much on his season-long loan, and that Jimenez has agreed a four-year deal with the midlands club.

The Guardian added that the £30million buy-out clause was inserted in the loan deal and that the fee would eclipse the club’s current record of £18million for Adama Traore.

OPINION

This is brilliant news for Wolves, a club who are really going places at the moment. They’ve had a terrific first season back in the Premier League and beat Man United on Tuesday for the second time in weeks after dumping them out of the FA Cup. Raul Jimenez has been behind their 2019 surge, scoring six league goals in his last nine games, making his total 15 for the season across 37 games in all competitions. But Jimenez is much more than just his goals, as his assist for Wolves’ opener in the 2-1 win against Man United proved. He’s got eight assists in the Premier League and he’s really found his feet in the midlands after a disappointing few seasons in Europe. Jimenez moved to Benfica for a fee close to £20million in 2015 and scored 31 goals in 121 games. But he only started six league games in 33 appearances for Benfica last season, and they must be absolutely elated to be making a £10million profit on him. £30million has to be seen as a great deal for Wolves too, making this a win-win for both clubs and the player.
