OPINION

Wolves had their hearts broken on Sunday when they narrowly missed out on an FA Cup final spot after losing 3-2 to Watford after extra-time in a dramatic game at Wembley.

Wolves were cruising after 62 minutes, when striker Raul Jimenez doubled their lead with a brilliant goal, but substitute Gerard Deulofeu changed the game when he was introduced in the 66th minute. He scored the first Watford goal 13 minutes later and, after a late, late Troy Deeney penalty took the game to extra time, notched the winner after 104 minutes.

It was harsh for Wolves who played brilliantly but with time fans will look back at this season and appreciate how far they’ve come since winning the Championship.

Fans were also quick to recognise how well Jimenez played for them and one big consolation is that Wolves are set to complete a £30million transfer for him over the summer.

His goal showed they’ve got a real bargain – he controlled the ball on his chest before acrobatically volleying it into the roof of the net. However, it wasn’t to be and Wolves now have to gather themselves and make sure they secure seventh spot in the Premier League. Leicester leapfrogged them over the weekend, but Wolves have a game in hand and play Southampton next on Saturday.

Meanwhile, here are the best reactions to Jimenez’ display in the FA Cup semi-final:
