West Ham have tabled an offer to sign Edin Dzeko, but they are set to be snubbed by the Roma centre-forward, according to Calcio Mercato.

The Italian news outlet has claimed that Dzeko, 33, is now desperate to sign for Inter Milan, even though the Hammers were at one stage favourites to sign the former Manchester City striker.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international will enter the final year of his contract with Roma at the end of this season and it seems as though he is ready to quit the Stadio Olimpico after three years in the Italian capital.

OPINION

Dzeko may be an ageing striker but he could definitely do a job for West Ham if they managed to sign him in the summer. He has scored 13 goals in 35 appearances across all competitions for Roma this season and has heaps of experience of playing in the Premier League, having won the competition previously with Manchester City while Manuel Pellegrini was in charge. Pellegrini had Dzeko playing the best football of his career so it is a shame that we are now unlikely to see them pair reunite at the London Stadium in the summer transfer window. West Ham might need to sign a few new strikers in the summer with Marko Arnautovic, Javier Hernandez, Lucas Perez and Andy Carroll all being linked with leaving the Premier League club. Dzeko, along with one or two young understudies, would have been a great addition for West Ham with those four strikers looking as though they might leave.
